D.N.F.T. is the original low force method of chiropractic that utilizes a unique system of subluxation analysis and correction.  Testing for subluxation analysis consists of a gentle, specific challenge followed by the proprietary D.N.F.T.® Reactive Leg Reflex™ check. This allows the body’s reaction to the test to indicate the locations and directions of misaligned structures that are producing nerve interference.

A low force and directionally specific thumb impulse correction provides long lasting alignment and balance to bony and soft tissue structures. D.N.F.T.® Chiropractic protocols are able to achieve these corrections without the torque, stronger force, and associated articular sounds that are often associated with traditional chiropractic.

D.N.F.T.® Chiropractic is a patient oriented approach that provides maximum, long lasting relief in a swift and effective manner. Low numbers of initial visits without the need for frequent follow up is the clear intention of this method.

AMIT practitioners can predict injuries by examining and identifying instabilities in the body, which in most cases lead to injury. The new advanced therapies utilized in AMIT procedures allow for rapid corrections of instabilities resulting in improved function, removal of pain and an overall new level of performance. The developers of the AMIT system discovered the primary cause of chronic joint pain and muscle pain is due to inhibited muscles due to overuse or injury. Although the pain of the injury goes away over time, the functional imbalance remains and in turn these functional imbalances eventually lead to chronic pain. By defining these imbalances and correcting them using the AMIT therapies, healing and rehabilitation can take place rapidly without the need for drugs or surgery. Tim Ferriss speaks highly of this technique in his book, “The 4 Hour Body.” He states upon seeing Dr. Craig Buhler, “I could only do Pectoral Flys with 40lb dumbells 4x before failure.” By the next day he states, “I walked into the gym and was able to do 50lb dumbells 18x!”

• Our bodies are perfectly designed to produce the experience we get.

• Pain or dysfunction is the result of modification to your body’s innate design. Modifications are due to an accumulation of imbalances caused by traumas and overloads to your body’s systems.

• There is always a reason for symptoms. Ignore them long enough, disease and injury will be the result.

• Symptoms are a precise language warning system built into the body to protect it.

• Treating symptoms with unnecessary medications/drugs and surgeries is in essence telling the body to be quiet. This approach can lead to more serious conditions over time.

• There are crisis situations, which require medications/drugs and surgeries. Medication should be used only as a stop gap measure until a solution can be defined to correct the cause of the problem. Surgery should be used only to correct pathology and not in an effort to remove the symptom of pain or improve function.

• We attempt to define the root cause of the problem rather than merely treat the symptom.

• When a muscle is overloaded beyond its ability to sustain the load, one of two things happen. The muscle fibers tear and/or the nervous system inhibits the muscle. Much like a circuit breaker in an electrical circuit. This is done to protect the muscle from more severe injury.

• If the inhibited muscle is loaded again during physical activity it will not be able to contract appropriately to support the force applied and will be weak. If the muscle continues to be stressed, the body will create pain so as to avoid more damage.

• Once a muscle is inhibited, the central nervous system develops an adaptive strategy to use other muscles or tissues to take on more of the load. This leads to adaptive movement patterns and is called " recruitment" or "adaptation". The adapted tissue becomes the next site of injury and the injury/adaptation cycle continues.

• Eventually, there will be no muscles in an area to adapt to. This places more stress on the ligaments and connective tissues and they begin to break down more rapidly. Leading to degenerative changes in the joint.

• Functional testing of isolated muscles defines positions of instability.

• Isolated muscle weakness leads to joint instability and restricted range of motion. The body will not allow motion that cannot be stabilized.

• Muscle tightness restricts motion and is a symptom of neurological inhibition of the antagonist muscles.

• Flexibility therapies increase range of motion but do nothing to improve stability. This can lead to further injury.

• The absence of symptoms does not indicate healing is complete. It may only indicate the body has merely created a successful adaptation into other tissues or systems. Adaptation leads to less efficient function.

• If an acute injury is not corrected within six weeks, the central nervous system is forced to adapt the body.

• Acute injuries will be treated at the local injury site. Chronic problems will always require treatment away from the symptom site.

• The symptom site may be the chronic adaptation site and may not respond to therapy.

• Adapted tissues become the next site of symptom and eventual injury.

• Treating adaptation sites does not improve function. If healing is to take place, all the essential components for healing must be present.

• If all the essential components for healing are not available, the injured tissue will be put on hold resulting in more adaptation.

• This leads to an accumulation of problems; adaptive overlay of injuries and adaptations creating a layering effect.

What is FDM? I’m glad you asked…

FDM stands for the Fascial Distortion Model™, developed by Dr. Stephen Typaldos, DO.

It’s called a ‘model’ because it isn’t a technique.

It’s actually a treatment model in which virtually all soft tissue injuries, or musculoskeletal complaints, are viewed through 1 or more of the 6 different types of alterations to the body’s connective tissues.

FDM has no protocols to memorize. Yet, FDM contains a detailed physical assessment, which leads to a specific diagnosis, and provides objective outcomes. The patient’s verbal and physical descriptions, coupled with the mechanism of injury and relevant orthopedic tests, will lead the practitioner to the proper form of soft tissue treatment. And for this reason, no other soft tissue approach can reproduce the outcomes repetitively across the board as well as we can!

Triggerbands™ are twisted bands of fibers that run along a linear pathway. These distortions are like seams that have become separated, torn, twisted, wrinkled, or sprained. Triggerbands are the most common type of Fascial Distortion seen clinically as they usually present in patients that have experienced repetitive, acute and chronic sprain/strain injuries.

Continuum Distortions™ occur when the transition zone between ligaments, tendon, or other tissue, and bone have lost their ability to respond to external forces. These distortions typically occur at attachment sites and are clinically responsible for the creation of bone spurs if untreated.

Cylinder Distortions™ are tangled coils of circular fascia. These superficial layers of fascia become distorted when traction and compression forces are combined with a twisting, or rotational force. These are usually diffuse in nature and are at times difficult for the patient to locate. Cylinder Distortions are present post surgically and are associated to numerous clinical presentations that depict numbness, tingling and spasm.

Herniated Triggerpoints™, or HTP’s, are injuries where tissues that normally lay underneath a fascial layer have breached their surrounding. These distortions typically will bulge through their adjacent fascial plane and create localized pain that can radiate throughout a region of the body.

Folding Distortions™ manifest when fascia in, or around a joint becomes distorted. These distortions are usually brought on by either traction, or compression forces (a severe pushing, or pulling mechanism of injury). Folding Distortion injuries lessen the fascia’s ability to protect itself against these pushing, or pulling forces.

Tectonic Fixations™ are defined as a physiological alteration where the fascial surfaces have lost their ability to glide. These are most common in jointed areas that have become fixated, or stiff and typically are accompanied by a marked loss of range of motion.

SPRT taping, developed by Dr. Tim Brown, helps determine the direction necessary for proper approximation and compression of injured tissues. SPRT gives greater relief from the injury in movement patterns. Due to the types of tapes used, SPRT is very supportive of injured or torn tissues while still allowing for proper range of motion with activity.

The unique protocol uses specially designed stainless steel instruments, along with appropriate therapeutic exercise, to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. The instruments also are used diagnostically to follow the kinetic chain, to locate and treat the cause of the symptom as well as the specific area of pain. GT is also frequently used as an effective protocol to maintain range of motion. We recognize there are options in the marketplace. However, GT is the originator of IASTM in the manual therapy industry and has perfected the technique during the past 20+ years. With a commitment to very high standards, GT is a strong advocate for proper education. Course materials are constantly being revised to reflect the latest research and industry best practices.

Originally developed by athletes, Graston Technique® is an interdisciplinary treatment used by more than 24,500 clinicians worldwide - including physical and occupational therapists, hand therapists, chiropractors, and athletic trainers. GT is utilized at some 3,042 outpatient facilities and 86 industrial sites, by more than 431 professional and amateur sports organizations, and is part of the curriculum at more than 45 respected colleges and universities.

The FAKTR Concept was developed by Dr. Thomas Hyde and Dr. Greg Doerr, two clinicians with over 20 years of combined experience with chiropractic, rehabilitation and soft tissue manipulation.  At the time of its development, leading research involving IASTM placed emphasis on the static treatment at the site of pain only.  Although backed by peer-reviewed research, this approach only emphasized soft tissue manipulation.

In 2010, the FAKTR concept was formalized--a unique approach to patient care that involves not only IASTM (instrument-assisted soft tissue manipulation), but that utilizes many manual and instrument-assisted soft tissue techniques and incorporates functional rehabilitation through provocation and movement.  Although the protocol can be performed with or without instruments, the developers wanted to develop high quality surgical stainless-steel instruments in a number of different shapes for maximum effectiveness.

How Is Spinal Decompression Different From Traction?

Regular traction stretches your spine and muscles simultaneously. But if you only stretch the spine, your body naturally “braces” for the next stretch, limiting the effectiveness of the treatment. The “overall stretching” commonly used in traction can also trigger painful muscle spasms.

Decompression therapy is different from conventional spinal traction because it alternates between stretching and relaxation. The relaxation stages trick your body into staying relaxed and therefore maximizes the load and the effectiveness of the treatment. Decompression tables should also allow your doctor or therapist to target your treatment area in three different dimensions. This allows practitioners to target their treatment by isolating specific spinal discs, compared to traction, which often just “stretches” the entire spine. Your health care provider should also be able to completely customize your decompression treatment by changing the amount of stretch (load); the number of stretch/relax stages; the time it takes to reach each peak stretch/relax stage; and many other settings. These options will allow us to personalize the session for your age, weight and condition and to adjust your treatments as we track your results.

Amazing Massage Therapy via heated water jets. Many people never get to experience Massage Therapy because they have a problem with removal of their clothing. This is NOT SO with Hydromassage. Hydromassage allows you to be fully clothed as the heated jets pulse up into the back of the body and legs creating a relaxing and warming massage allowing the body to de-stress, relax, increase blood flow, and boost lymphatic activity. Hydromassage can be used before and after treatment as well as a stand alone Therapy whenever your heart desires.

We use vibration plate therapy to stimulate the lymphatic system during Detox, re-integrate muscles quicker after AMIT work, and to stimulate the body when working through certain gait and balance training procedures because of its ability to cause all the muscle fibers in the body to be stimulated.

A definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting. Latex-free and wearable for days at a time, Kinesio® Tape is safe for populations ranging from pediatric to geriatric, and successfully treats a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions. The Kinesio® Taping Method is a therapeutic taping technique not only offering our patient’s the support they are looking for, but also rehabilitating the affected condition as well. By targeting different receptors within the somatosensory system, Kinesio® Tape alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affect forms convolutions in the skin thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for a decrease in inflammation of the affected areas.

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and adjustment.  The goal of the adjustment is to reduce tension and maintain balance in the pelvic complex.  In doing so, near-biomechanical function in the pelvis is facilitated.

Massage Therapy - People use massage for a variety of health-related purposes, including to relieve pain, rehabilitate sports injuries, reduce stress, increase relaxation, address anxiety and depression, and aid general wellness.

Fat Doesn’t Stand a Chance: Treatment with the ZERONA® laser is easy, painless, and carefree.

(Zerona is only used during True Cellular Detox Program to aid the Detoxification of the FAT Cell.)

Each session takes less than an hour; the low-level laser is used for a total of 40 minutes. The laser is applied to the targeted area, which is generally a combination of the waist, hips, and thighs, for 20 minutes. The client then turns over and the very same treatment is applied to the opposite side. The minimum suggested treatment period is two weeks, with three full sessions each week.

You simply lay in a comfortable, stationary position for twenty minutes at a time, in a relaxed environment, while the cold laser does all the work. Since the Zerona uses cold laser technology, you feel nothing during the procedure. You may feel a bit different and lighter as you exit the treatment center due to the bio-stimulation that begins in your body.

Four separate histological studies were performed to assess the efficacy of laser in the emulsification (liquefaction) of fat. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were utilized to analyze adipose tissue. SEM and TEM images revealed the collapse of adipose arrangements after laser therapy. The voluminous state of an adipocyte cell is reduced due to the emulsification process. The fatty material is evacuated from the cell and moves into extracellular space. The voluminous nature of adipocytes due to the accumulation of fatty material is what gives rise to an enlarged subcutaneous fat region. ZERONA ® induces the formation of a transitory pore in the membrane of the fat cell. The pore enables the fatty material to seep out across the aperture and into extracellular space.

Biofeedback is starting to become semi-popular in the United States. It however carries heavy popularity in Europe, especially countries like Germany.

How does it work?  Frequencies have been discovered over time which allow us to know what the normal frequency response should be of Organs and Systems of the body. Medically frequencies are measured when checking the PQRST of your Heart via EKG, Skeletal Muscle via EMG, or the Brain via EEG. While these ways of gathering the frequency through the Electromagnetic System is a little different, the understanding can be applied.

Biofeedback sends a response into the body and gathers that response back looking for deviations from norms. By doing this we can find areas in the body that are currently stressed. A beautiful way we can apply this is via the SPINE. The bodies deviation pathway from normal will first occur Energetically, then move to Fluids of the Body such as Blood, Lymph, and Urine, then ultimately end up in the Tissues and Organs as pathology if never altered.  The question arises, why not check for disturbances energetically in medicine? Well the answer to that relies on Reproducibility. Energy, biofeedback wise isn’t replicable sequentially. What that means is if you throw a rock into water it creates energetic ripples on the surface and within the water. If you again followed with another rock the exact same size and threw it again the response on the surface and within the water would be different. This phenomenon is due to the fact that the energy of ripples within the water has caused a shift after the first rock was thrown, now any Rock thrown thereafter will not create the same energetic ripple response. Because medically the FDA does not allow biofeedback to be used diagnostically to determine disease in the United States, we use BioFeedback as an Energetic Guide to help understand disturbances in the Spinal System that are not yet palpable or detectable via manual palpation.  Why does this matter?  This allows us to stay ahead of abnormalities gathered by Biofeedback and give us the best ability to create Health within the Spinal System and ward off potential issues not yet detectable through normal Medical means.
